Continuous High Beam released

Edgemont, Pennsylvania – May 23, 2016 – Peak Beam Systems, Inc., manufacturer of high intensity Maxa Beam Searchlights, announced today that the company has updated all searchlights to add a continuous high beam mode.

Previously, users had to press and hold the searchlight’s 4-way toggle switch to maintain a constant high beam. Now, an automatic “latched” high function has been added to the Maxa Beam’s range of user-programmable options, meaning that the searchlight can be set to operate continuously on high beam mode.

“Our current LiFePO4 batteries do a great job of handling the demanding power requirements of a Maxa Beam running on constant high beam,” explained Matt Thorne, Peak Beam’s Product and Quality Manager.  “Now that LiFePO4 is the standard battery chemistry in all handheld searchlight packages, adding a latched high setting to the searchlight’s programming options is a natural step that will give users more flexibility during operation.”

Mounted, remote-controlled searchlights will also receive the software update.  The update does not affect a searchlight’s default beam settings and has no impact on computer-controlled searchlights’ serial interface commands.

Older searchlights may be eligible for a free software upgrade at the factory. Note, however, that the software is only compatible with 3rd generation searchlights (indicated by “G3” in the serial number) and any upgraded handheld searchlights must be powered by a MBP-1308 or MBP-1310 LiFePO4 battery.  Please contact Peak Beam for eligibility information and details.

A new Maxa Beam Operation Manual has been released in conjunction with the continuous high beam update.  The full color manual includes the new high beam programming instructions and an updated maintenance section covering lamp and lens replacement.
